Table d’hôtesIn the evening you may dine with our family, in the French tradition. We serve a dinner of three courses with wine and coffee. The meals vary each day and are based on traditional French cuisine with the tastes of regional delicacies, for example an omelette aux cèpes (fine boletus mushrooms from the chestnut forests), pork with marrons glacés in wine, goat’s cheese salad. Depending on the weather, the meals are served outside on one of the terraces or inside in the dining room near the Cévenol chimney.
After dinner and wine, you may enjoy the most beautiful starlit sky to be found in France.
PicnicWe can provide a picnic basket for lunch, either basic or deluxe, or a lunch to be carried in a backpack. Information on demand.
The surrounding areaLa Source de Castagnols is situated in the Parc National des Cévennes, a nature reserve with exceptionally rich animal and plant life, splendid landscapes and ancient villages.
In the immediate environs there are several rivers whose flow and water level are sufficient for swimming, even in high summer. The landscape is perfect for hiking or mountain biking. Wherever one cycles, the steepness of the slopes and the hairpin bends compete for the attention demanded by the beauty of the surroundings.
If you wish to discover the countryside by horse, there are several riding centres in the Cévennes. The geology of the region is very interesting, and the imposing gorges of the Ardèche and Tarn rivers lie within a few dozen kilometres.
Towns and cities of cultural interest such as Mende, Avignon, Nîmes, Uzès and Montpellier are located within a radius of 90 km.
There are fine discoveries to be made at and around Castagnols. For this, we invite you to look at the following page:
